Saints from Valles

Today the stake from valles came to the temple so we stopped by and visited the few that came from our ward and the ward next to ours. It was pretty fun, everyone was amazed that Elder Avila and I were together again as companions. A lot asked me why I didn´t even tell anyone I was leaving or say goodbye at all. I was amazed because that hasn´t really happened before. It was good. Things are going good, there´s only one week left in this transfer. next saturday will be really busy- i don´t think we´ll have a pday, but maybe i´ll have time to at least write. who knows.

Tidbits from Trevor

I´m not sure what i want for my bday still, just put whatever in there I guess. That´s cool that marcus got to go and stay with travis, they finally got a visitor from home. How close is steph to having her baby? Keep me updated. Who was it that didn´t choose a baby name for 9 months? I missed out on that news. That´s awesome you got to see chad. I miss that kid. I have no idea what movies ¨inkheart¨ and ¨taken¨ are- but you should just add those to the ¨movies worth seeing¨ list for when I get home. No, we aren´t having problems with our money right now. The dollar is worth a lot right now, so things are pretty cheap dollar wise. Right now 1 dollar is worth like 14.5 pesos. I found a pair of pants at walmart for 150 pesos which turned out to be 10 bucks. It´s not a bad pair of pants either. The mission should always pay the missionaries´ rent and utilities. That´s really weird that the mission isn´t giving them enough for that. Sounds to me like the native companions are taking advantage of their arrongant (and sometimes wealthy) gringo comps. Just kidding. but maybe true. . . Things are great. The gospel is true. Love you lots. Elder Evans V

Burning of the Pants!

Elder Evans has been on his mission for 18 months as of Sunday. Here is the documentation of the ritual burning of the pants to signify that milestone in the mission.

Happy V-Day!

Happy Valentine´s day to you too. I hope it goes well for you. I have not gotten the package that you sent. The last time the materials secretary went to the post office was thursday(?) and it hadn´t arrived, and he didn´t go friday or today. It very well could be sitting there calling my name wanting to be opened. Until monday (maybe). My week was good, I spent most of it doing divisions with the Zone leaders. We haven´t met with Jonathan for quite a while, he fell through on a couple occasions and now can´t quite find time amidst school to talk with us. He didn´t make it to church last week. I introduce myself to the ward finally, after 3 weeks of being there. Sergio´s dad still hasn´t come down from wherever he is in the US, so we postponed the baptism until next sunday. He would have gotten baptized tomorrow.

Donuts and Milk

On monday we went to the local HEB (a supermarket with amercian foods) to buy some donuts and milk for the office staff. We saw Hermana Moss there and she kindly offered to pay for our breakfast- it was nice. Later some elders came into the offices for interviews with president and we had to do some moving around with areas.

Hitting the Road

Tuesday morning I took a bus 4 hours north to victoria and did Divisions with Elder Sotelo. They were good, we vistited a lot of people and found two new investigators while knocking doors. At night we ate some good tacos and called it a night.

On the Road Again

Wednesday I went to Valles pretty late, the bus didn´t leave from Victoria until 10:30 but I got to Valles to do divisions with Elder Aguilar. He is a great missionary, but just works way different than I did in my old area- so it was cool and weird to be there at the same time. I got to see my convert Ana and give her the Bible and Triple Combination that i had bought her along with photos. And she gave me a card that she had made thaking me for helping find the gospel. It was awesome. Thursday morning I came back to Tampico and we had a short meeting with President Moss. Later I went out with the Zone Leader here in Tampico. I was getting pretty tired after 3 days of divisions and traveling, but we ended the night well.

A Reference

Friday was a normal day- we tended to our responsibilities in the offices but the best part was that we visited another reference from the same family that gave us Jonathan. His name is mauricio and is the boyfriend of one of the members. He was really nervous to talk to us but after we taught the lesson he was so thankful and relieved and willing to do what we asked. He probably won´t get baptized any time soon, but we gave him a good base to start off on.

Soccer, a Run, and Football Americano

We went to play soccer at the church building and planned on bringing less actives, but it turned out that no one showed up. In our area there is the Laguna del Carpintero so my comp asked if I wanted to run around the Lagoon. I agreed but forgot how long it had been since I had done serious running. We ran around one side and i was beat. When we barely started going I already had a cramp and felt like throwing up. We were going to go home, but didn´t have any money and the other elders couldn´t pick us up- so we had to run/walk the rest of the way home. So I ran about 2 miles after all was said and done. It was tough, but suprisingly I woke up today and wasn´t too sore. We went to the beach for P-day but wasn´t really up for playing soccer or anything. We kicked around a ball and threw around a football and called it a day. Everything is great. I am doing well. I love you so much and thank you for what you do for me. Have and awesome week.

Meeting with the Old Guys

This week went really well, I liked it a lot. Sunday was pretty strange, we were invited to a meeting where a member of the seventy trained all the stake presidents from the area. There were about 8 there with their young mens presidents and other leaders. There was also the temple president and president moss. It was strange to be there amidst all those old guys. We pretty much just went over a plan to help out the youth here. Later we went to eat and afterwards had an appointment with jonathan. Later we went to another meeting in one of the stakes here.

Busy Day in the Office

Monday is the busiest day in the offices for us. We have to organize all the data that we recieved the night before and send emails and print off things for all sorts of people. Later we went to an Elders quorum activity and played soccer. There were some investigators there, i hope they had a good time and were introduced well to the church. We had to leave early for a FHE, but they family didn´t show up.
